King Of The Mountain.

This is a maths thing that my class had to do. The layout is like a mountain, which is why I call this activity "King Of The Mountain". It is actually called times tables mountain but that sounds kinda lame, so I renamed it. My teacher reckoned I could do the mountain in under three minutes and she was obviously right. So I set myself another challenge of trying to get under TWO minutes on my next attempt. Here's the results...

I only just completed the my challenge with a time of 1 minute 57 seconds only 2 seconds and 46 milliseconds and I would have failed! Here is the evidence. It's a screenshot of the timer when I stopped it.

Chocolate Charts

Last week we had a strand maths workshop. We were put into groups of about 4. Our walt was to estimate how many M&M's in a packet and how many of each color. Next we had to open up the packet and see how many were actually in the packet. Our Guesses were way off. My thoughts on that were that they probably just weigh the M&M's instead of counting a number of them for each color.

Next we made charts with the data we had gathered. We made one pie chart on google sheets with the percentage of each color. We made one bar graph on google sheets. But my favorite one was the actual M&M chart. We made a chart on paper with the actual M&M's to show the raw data. Also it looks really cool and I thought it was creative. Here is my charts. Two are in a slide show. One is a photo.

New BEDMAS Maths Learning

This past while I have been learning BEDMAS. BEDMAS is the order of operations in maths. So if I had to do a big complicated problem, I would use BEDMAS. BEDMAS stands for Brackets, Exponents, Division, Multiplication, Addition, Subtraction. When I use BEDMAS I feel really clever solving big equations. At first when I look at the equation it looks really hard but after a while I usually get it. In the first Screencastify, I say what bedmas stands for. In the second screencastify, I solve an example question using BEDMAS. Enjoy my screencastify.
Hope You Learnt Somthing

DLO For Finding Area

Kia ora. This is my screencastify DLO for finding the area of a rectangle. I did this DLO based on strand maths learning this week. We had to create the biggest chicken run we could using 12 meters of chicken mesh. The catch was, we had to make the chicken run a rectangle. To measure who's chicken run was really the biggest we had to find the area of them. That's when the are learning came in. Anyway, Here is my screencastify.
In my video you may have noticed that I said meters squared .  A square meter is a square that measures one meter on each side . For example:

GEOMETRY DLO

This is my Geometry DLO. I created it using Google Slides. I created this DLO Based off the learning I did in one of my strand maths workshops. (This is my first ever strand DLO) My favorite new shape that I learned was the dodecagon. It is like a hexagon but with 12 sides! By the way please do not just click anywhere on the slide because you might mess with some of the links. Please click the next button or the instruced button (it is linked) Anyway here is my DLO if you want to play it!

Maths DLO For Use The Part Unknown Strategy To Compare Amounts.

Kia ora. This is my DLO for my new strategy. (DLO stands for Digital Learning Objective) With this DLO, instead of just using screencastify, I used google slides. It took a super long time to make this DLO, and it has some pretty cool animations that I created. I am really proud of this DLO, but one thing that you have got to watch out for, is that the slides go super fast so try your best to keep up with them! Another thing is that each slide will auto switch to the next one if you do not click the "NEXT" arrow within one minute of that slide starting. Anyway here is my DLO. I hope you enjoy it.

Times Table Diplomas

Kia ora. This week our focus was on times tables. We went to https://www.timestables.co.nz/diploma/  to help us learn our times tables. Our goals were to get our big and little Diploma tests finished with no mistakes. I have already reached my goal and now I am trying to get my trophy cabinet filled with times table medals. My next steps after that is to master my 8x tables. Here is some screenshots of my Diplomas.

Algebra DLO

Hi, Daniel here. I have just finished my maths prove it and made this screencastify video. The video will show you an example question showing the new maths strategy that I have now learnt.

I went through all of the prove it videos that I made and this is my favourite. The WALT for this prove it was to Balance algebra equations to find unknown numbers. This is from Stage 7 work.
Hope you enjoy.

Maths DLO

Hi, Daniel here. I have just finished my maths prove it and made this screencastify video. The video will show you an example question showing the new maths strategy that I have now learnt.

I went through all of the prove it videos that I made and this is my favourite.
The WALT for this prove it was to solve decimal addition problems by changing one number into a whole number. Hope you enjoy.
